NOTE CLASS DESCRIPTION:

This LTP 1 class is appropriate for those who have recently participated in Future Caps and are not ready to move on to LTP 2 (a more advanced skill level).
This class is also for those who are new to hockey and do not fall into the age category for Future Caps or who do not wish to wait for the next series of Future Caps.

Players will learn and develop their hockey skills with structured age and ability-appropriate games and skill specific stations emphasizing fun!

Drills and small area games will be used to develop proper skating, stick handling, passing, puck control and shooting techniques.

LTP participants should complete Learn to Hockey Skate classes before joining LTP classes.

Full gear is required for all participants. 

Youth LTP is a fun way to develop skills as well as a love for the game of hockey!  It’s a beginner class for young hockey players.  Players will learn and develop their hockey skills with structured age and ability-appropriate games and skill specific stations emphasizing fun!

All youth and adult hockey players at MedStar Capitals Iceplex may be requested to submit their USAHockey number when requested during registrations.
If prompted, enter your 2025-2026 USAHockey number. If you need to retrieve or purchase your number, visit USA Hockey.

A 2025-2026 number will have a "6" as the fourth digit. This number is valid through August 31, 2026.

Full gear is required for all:

HECC Certified Helmet with full-face protection (cage or shield), neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, ice hockey gloves, ice hockey pants, ice hockey shin guards, mouth guard, protective cup, hockey skates, hockey jersey, and hockey stick. Loaner gear is not available (except rental skates).
