Capitals Hockey Academy is pleased to announce that Brad Surdam will be the Head Coach of the 2019-20 Midget 16U-Red team and an Assistant coach on the 12U-White team.

This will be Brad’s second season as a Capitals Hockey Academy coach and Hockey Director.

As a native of Northern Virginia, Brad has played for numerous organizations in the area, including the Washington Little Capitals, Washington Junior Capitals, and Washington Junior Nationals. After playing with the Washington Junior Nationals for the 2006-2007 season, Brad continued playing at Lebanon Valley College (NCAA DIII) and has also played professional hockey with the Cape Cod Bluefins (FHL).

Brad has spent four seasons in coaching teams with the Washington Little Capitals at the U14 and U16 age groups and has enjoyed successful seasons that include a NJPHL championship, AYHL championship finalist, and PVAHA championship. His most recent season was with the Capitals Hockey Academy U14 AA team that includes an Empire State Tournament Championship.

He attributes his coaching success to the American Development Model (ADM) and is looking forward to developing players through this model so they can take the next step in their playing careers.

Brad is a Level 4 USA Hockey certified coach and lives in Arlington, VA with his wife Rebecca and 3-year-old dog, Mac.
