Kevin Klym tabbed for 2018-19 season

Capitals Academy is pleased to announce that Kevin Klym will be the Head Coach of the 2018-19 Peewee Red team.

This will be Kevin’s seventh season coaching teams at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, which includes RHL Mini Mites, RHL Mites, RHL Squirts, RHL Selects, and Capitals Academy Tournament Teams. This will be his third season serving as a head coach for Capitals Academy, having led Squirt Blue to a Silver Stick Regionals title in 2016-17 and guiding Pee Wee White A to a successful season in 2017-18.

Kevin began playing hockey in Connecticut at the youth level, developed further while playing for Trinity Catholic High School, and finished his competitive career at the Club level for the University of Dayton.

Kevin is a passionate believer in the USA Hockey ADM model and in individual player development through team growth. “I believe in challenging our kids to want to be better every time they are with the team,” says Klym. “My three coaching tenets are (1) to enjoy the game, (2) to play as a team, and (3) to always outwork our opponents. I am looking forward to leading this team to a successful first season in the CBHL.”

Kevin is a Level 4 USA Hockey certified coach and intends on receiving his level 5 CEP coaching certification this summer. He lives in Washington, DC with his wife Lee and two children, Adelina and Collin.
