Capitals Academy announces Bantam White Coach

James Yuschik tabbed for 2018-19 season

Capitals Academy is pleased to announce that James Yuschik will be the head coach of the 2018-19 Bantam White team.

This will be James’s third season coaching teams at MedStar Capitals Iceplex, which include Mini-Mites, RHL Squirt, RHL Peewee, Capitals Academy Bantam and Midget tournament teams, and Capitals Academy Bantam and Midget travel teams. Additional coaching experience includes: Learn to Play Adult 1&2, Adult Skill Builder, Total Athlete Development, and Learn to Play Youth 1&2. 

James began playing pond hockey in Massachusetts and graduated to Andover's youth travel and tournament programs. During his High School career, James played for Austin Preparatory out of Reading, MA until moving to Cincinnati, OH where he was named assistant captain of the Wyoming High School varsity team as a Sophomore, and captain his Junior and Senior years.  James supplemented his high school hockey by playing out of both the Cincinnati Jr. Cyclones and Queen City Steam organizations.  James earned his Bachelors degree in finance at Cornell University where he finished his competitive career with the university's D1 ACHA program after serving as a varsity practice player his freshman year.

James is a strong proponent of the USA Hockey ADM model.  His core coaching ideologies include: 1) instilling a life-long love and respect for the game, 2) developing strong fundamentals and encouraging player creativity, and 3) teaching the concept of grit and its applications both on and off the ice.

James is a level 3 USA Hockey certified coach and intends on receiving his level 4 CEP coaching certification this summer.  James is also a level 1 USA Hockey certified official.  He lives in Arlington, VA with his fiancée, Michele.
