RHL TRAINING CAMP & EVALUATION SKATE

REGISTRATION OPENS AUGUST 9!

RHL Training Camp and the Evaluation Skate are coming soon! These two activities are for participants already registered for the 2019-20 RHL season.

RHL TRAINING CAMP
Get ready for the the season! Players will have two days of on-ice training.
There are two Training Camp days for each age division. Enrollment for this program is limited.

COST: $70 for 2 days
Registration opens August 9!

 

RHL EVALUATION SKATE
In order to promote equitable play between all teams, NON-RETURNING PLAYERS should participate in the evaluation skate process prior to the start of the House League season. Returning players need to contact Hockey@MedStarCapitalsIceplex.com if they would like to participate in the evaluation skate.

Mini-Mites are not divided into teams for the season. However, all Mini-Mites are invited to an on-ice Orientation Skate as an introduction to the RHL program.

There is NO FEE for this evaluation/orientation skate, but players should register.

RHL TEAM ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Following the RHL draft, players will be notified of their team within a few days. Practice days/times, game schedules, and coaches will be announced once the draft is complete and certified by the Hockey Director. All information will be posted on the website and will be emailed to all participants.

Once the RHL season has begun, coaches will keep teams and players updated in addition to direct contact from the Hockey Director.

The RHL season begins the week of September 23.

Please keep in mind that all dates and times are subject to change based on the Capitals schedule.

Please note the registration timeline below. Online registration is strongly encouraged. See the attached brochure for full details, including pricing, practices, and games.

  • Returning Fall/Winter 2018-19 RHL Player Priority Registration: July 1st—14th at 10am.
  • Eligible LTP Players & RHL Spring 2019 Participants (LTP players who have already completed  at least two sessions of LTP at MedStar Capitals Iceplex or are currently enrolled in their second session): July 15th—21st at 10am.
  • Open Registration: Begins July 22nd at 10am. Online registration is encouraged. Players must still meet requirements. (Must complete at least 2 LTP sessions or have previous house league experience before the season begins.)

GOALIE REGISTRATION:
Goalie registration time periods are the same as player registration. A separate GOALIE registration link will be available for goalies (Squirt, Peewee, and Bantam/Midget). There are no full-time goalies at Mini-mites or Mites.

Please register early to avoid disappointment! RHL does fill quickly. Once a level is full, a waitlist will be available.

**PLEASE NOTE: Mites 2011 and Mites 2012 have separate registrations. Please register for your correct birthyear.

USA HOCKEY REGISTRATION:
We require all House League participants to register independently with USA Hockey HERE. Registration for ages 6 and under is free. Your 2019-20 USA Hockey number is required when registering for RHL. You will not be able to register RHL for or participate in the evaluation skate or the RHL season without a 2019-20 USA Hockey registration. Your 2019-20 USA Hockey number will have a "0" as the fourth digit. We encourage you to obtain your number at least 24 hours in advance of your RHL registration.

 

Payment is due in full at the time of registration.

No refunds will issued for RHL.

RHL MITES ARE FILLED!

RHL Mites, Squirts, Peewees, & Bantam/Midgets are filled.

Bantan/Midget Goalie spots are still available.

You may still add your name to the waitlist, but we encourage you to explore other opportunities.

RHL Age Divisions

RHL Age Divisions for the Fall/Winter 2019-20 season:

RHL SELECTS TRYOUTS

The House Selects program is for the experienced house player that is looking for additional opportunities to develop as a hockey player. By playing in the Selects program, these players will have the opportunity to participate in additional practices and games against local area teams and in tournaments.

Program details coming in October!

RHL Select Teams will be fielded based on interest and ice availability. We anticipate having teams at the Mite, Squirt, Peewee, and Bantam levels and hosting tryouts in September. RHL Selects requires players to participate in RHL and is an additional fee.

RHL Minimites

Birth Years 2013, 2014

  • Practices: Players will be divided into small groups and placed into stations. Each station will incorporate drills for skill development and fun.
  • Anticipated practices/games on Sunday mornings OR Sunday afternoons.
  • 10-week season begins in September.
  • A second 10-week season will be offered January-March 2020.
  • Maximum number of players in the league: 40
  • Cost: $440

RHL PEEWEES

Birth Years 2007, 2008

  • We anticipate that practices will be held on Mondays.
  • Three teams will practice together during each practice session.
  • Games are full-ice and consist of a 3-minute warm-up and three 12-minute periods.
  • Anticipated games will be held on Saturday mornings OR afternoons.
  • Maximum number of players in the league: 96
  • Cost: $1,390

RHL MITES

Birth Years 2011, 2012

  • We anticipate that practices will be held on Mondays.
  • Games will be cross-ice with a warm-up and two 25-minute periods.
  • There are no full-time goalies in Mites. The coach will rotate goalies each game. RHL provides goalie gear for Mites.
  • Anticipated games will be held on Sunday mornings OR Sunday afternoons.
  • Maximum number of players in the league: 120
  • Cost: $1,380
  • **PLEASE NOTE: Mites 2011 and Mites 2012 have separate registrations. Please register for your correct birthyear.**

RHL BANTAM/MIDGETS

Birth Years 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006

  • Anticipated games on Saturday evenings.
  • The sessions will alternate and consist of 10 practices and 10 games.
  • This is a non-checking league.
  • Maximum amount of player in the league: 68
  • Cost: $1,050

RHL SQUIRTS

Birth Years 2009, 2010

  • We anticipate that practices will be held on Mondays.
  • Multiple teams will practice together during each practice session.
  • Games until January will be half-ice and consist of a 3-minute warm-up and three 20-minute running clock periods.
  • After the first half of the season, we will evaluate whether to continue with half-ice games or move to full-ice games
  • Anticipated games will be held on Saturday mornings OR afternoons.
  • Maximum number of players in the league: 96
  • Cost: $1,390

RHL Selects Tryouts

Registration Opens August 9!

The RHL Selects program is for the experienced house player that is looking for additional opportunities to develop as a hockey player. By playing in the Selects program, these players will have the opportunity to participate in additional practices as well as multiple away tournaments. There is also the possibility of exhibition games against local area teams.

RHL Selects Teams will be fielded based on interest. We anticipate fielding four or more teams at the Mite level and at least one team at each of the following levels: Squirt, Peewee, and Bantam.

See the flyer below for all tryout dates and times. Please plan to attend both tryout dates for your age division. (All dates and times are subject to change based on tryout numbers and the Capitals schedule.)

Tryout registration opens August 9. Players must already be registered for the 2019-20 RHL season to be eligible for RHL Selects Tryouts and to participate in the Selects season.

COSTS:
Tryout Fee: $70
Season Fee (including jersey):
- Mites - $595
- Squirts/Peewees/Bantams - $725
