RHL and Medstar Capitals Iceplex is a USA Hockey Model Association. One aspect of this is that we follow USAH's "American Development Model" as our coaching philosophy and execution. For more information go to admkids.com

Communication
Per USAH and RHL policy all coach-to-player/guardian email communication is driven through SportsEngine. Once you accept the invite to this team you can go into sports engine and send anyone on the team – or the entire team – an email.

Coach Introductions
We’re lucky enough to have 2 coaches on our team this year:
• Me (Chris Gullott), son Cullen – I’ve been coaching in RHL and Caps Academy for 5 years now. I’ve coached Mini-Mites, Mites, Squirts and Pee-Wees.
• Aaron Domnitch (daughter Cameron) will - Aaron has also coached multiple seasons with RHL.

There is no “head coach” in RHL as all our coaches are trained to lead games and practices.

Mites Gameplay
• Two 25-minute running clock periods
• 3 cross ice games happening simultaneously with cross-ice boards installed. Zone A is the Zamboni door end; Zone C is the end adjacent to the Balcony. When the schedule comes out it will say which zone our game is in.
• 4v4 with line changes are covered by a timer that buzzes every 1:29 to 1:31
• No penalties – infractions are coaching points when the player returns to the bench
• All players will play goal at least once.
• In order to prioritize skill development and teamwork, WE DO NOT KEEP SCORE. The players obviously keep score and when they ask me to confirm their score my standard response is, “Nope. It is tied.” And then we quickly redirect the conversation to hockey skill/teamwork

Next Steps
We’ll will send out a proposed goalie schedule and info on snack time.

Aaron and I are looking forward to a great season!

Thank you,
Chris Gullott
