By Hockey Department 03/05/2019, 8:00pm EST

Capitals Hockey Academy is pleased to announce that Steve Kresse will be the Head Coach of the 2019 U18 Spring Tournament Team.

This will be Steve’s fourth season as a Capitals Hockey Academy coach.

Steve grew up playing in Buffalo, NY for the Amherst Knights organization and moved to Northern Virginia in 2002. Steve has played for numerous organizations in the area, including the VA Wild, Ashburn Xtreme, and Reston Raiders. After playing with the VA Wild for the 2007-2008 season and competing in USA Hockey Nationals, Steve continued playing at SUNY Binghamton (ACHA D1). Steve graduated SUNY Binghamton and helped the team capture the 2010-2011 NECHL League Championship as the team captain and team President.

Steve has spent five seasons coaching multiple youth travel teams at Capitals Hockey Academy and the Ashburn Xtreme. This past season Steve was an Assistant Coach with the Yorktown HS Patriots Varsity Hockey team, finishing in the NVSHL Quarter Finals with a record of 12-4-1.

He attributes his coaching success to the American Development Model (ADM) and is looking forward to developing players through this model so they can take the next step in their playing careers.

Steve is a Level 4 USA Hockey certified coach and lives in Arlington, VA.
