*Successful completion of LTS Hockey 1 & 2 is required prior to any registration for Hockey Learn to Play. Skaters are expected to continue in Hockey 3 and 4 in addition to enrolling in LTP.

The Hockey curriculum is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating. In four levels, skaters will learn how to maneuver faster and become more agile on the ice. Proper skating techniques are the primary focus of the levels. All elements will be taught without a puck. Skaters will learn the necessary fundamentals to be successful in game situations.
(Successful completion of Snowplow Sam 2, Basic 1 or Adult 1 in our Recreational Skating Lessons is required before enrolling in Hockey 1.)

What Will I Learn?

What Should I Wear?

Hockey 1 and 2
Skating is a sport. So dress in athletic type clothing. Flexible layers are encouraged in case you break a sweat. An HECC helmet is required. Hockey Gloves and a Stick are encouraged but not required.

Hockey 3 and 4
By the time a skater is in Hockey 3 and 4 they are required to wear certain equipment to class to begin learning how to execute maneuvers in the gear. (See above.) Under garments such as a T-shirt and shorts are a good idea to remain flexible underneath the gear.

And the number one forgotten item for all levels? Socks! A thin pair that rises above the ankle are best.

Equipment

Hockey 3 and 4 requires the following equipment:

  • Hockey skates
  • Certified HECC hockey helmet
  • Stick
  • Hockey Gloves
  • Pants
